Step Up Resource Foundation was started by two friends that regularly opened their home to people in need. Joliet, Illinois was know as a town that would open its door to people seeking shelter. All a person in need would do is look at a house and if it had a sash on the front door the home was known for offering shelter to anyone in need. This tradition was kept alive by these individuals independently and then collectively once they met each other. After five years of working on projects together, they determined it was time to begin Step Up Resource Foundation. To take their passion and grow it into an organization full of individuals that could join the effort and once again provide a network of community support.
In August of 2016 the organization began growing from a home based organization into a registered charity. We are now working on purchasing a business location to work from along with corporate funding for more advanced programs.
The services will include but not be limited to identifying resources, education and support to assist individuals, families or groups in times of crisis, disability, emergency or need with the ultimate goal of inspiring an attitude to pay it forward. We are always looking for more opportunities to support the community needs and welcome every skill you can bring to assist us with our goals.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
